The Treatment

What is Hot Stone Massage?

Hot stone massage combines traditional massage with smooth basalt stones warmed to a comfortable temperature. The heat softens tight muscle before your therapist works on it, which means deeper tension can often be released with less pressure than a conventional massage would need.

The stones are placed along the body and also used in the therapist’s hands as an extension of the massage. Every stone is checked against your skin before it is used, and the temperature is adjusted to what you find comfortable. It is a particularly popular choice in colder months and for anyone who feels the cold.

How It Works

What happens at your appointment

1

A quick chat

We check for any areas of tension, injuries or areas to avoid, and agree the pressure you want.

2

Your massage

You are covered throughout, with only the area being worked on exposed. Tell your therapist any time if you want more or less pressure.

3

Afterwards

Take your time getting up. Drink water and keep the rest of the day gentle where you can.

Aftercare

  • Drink plenty of water afterwards.
  • Avoid heavy exercise for the rest of the day.
  • A warm bath can help if you feel tender the next day.
  • Mild soreness after deep work is normal and settles in a day or two.
  • Tell us next time if you want the pressure adjusted.

Suitability

Is Hot Stone Massage right for you?

A good fit if…

  • You like heat and find it helps you relax
  • Tension is deep-seated but you dislike heavy pressure
  • You feel the cold or suffer with stiffness in winter
  • Stress and poor circulation are both concerns
  • You want something more restorative than a standard massage

Tell us first if…

  • You are pregnant
  • You have diabetes, neuropathy or reduced sensitivity to heat
  • You have high blood pressure or a heart condition
  • You have varicose veins, inflamed skin or a recent injury

Results and how often: The effect is usually felt straight away — muscles stay noticeably looser for several days, and most people describe it as the most relaxing treatment on the menu. Monthly is a comfortable rhythm if you want to keep on top of tension.

Good To Know

Hot Stone Massage FAQs

How hot are the stones?
Warm and comfortable, never uncomfortable. Your therapist checks each stone before it touches your skin and will adjust the temperature to suit you.
Is it as effective as deep tissue massage?
For many people, yes — the heat allows deeper release without heavy pressure. If you want firm, targeted work on one stubborn area, deep tissue may still suit you better.
Can I have hot stone massage if I am pregnant?
We do not offer hot stone during pregnancy. A Swedish or aromatherapy massage adapted for pregnancy is the safer choice — mention it when you book.
What should I wear?
Whatever is comfortable. You will be given privacy to undress to your comfort level and are covered throughout.
How much pressure is used?
Whatever you are comfortable with. Tell your therapist at any point and they will adjust — firmer is not always better.
Can I book 30 minutes instead of an hour?
Yes. Thirty minutes suits a specific area, while a full hour allows a proper full-body treatment.
How do I book?
Book online at any time, message us on WhatsApp, or call 07391 213145. If you are not sure which treatment you need, ask us first.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Full details are on our policies page.
